Fake Bank Of India Notice Claims Accounts Will Be Blocked Over KYC; PIB Fact Check Responds

A notice claiming to have been issued by the Bank of India is circulating online and falsely stating that customers’ bank accounts will be blocked immediately due to non-updation of Aadhaar and PAN KYC.

The notice also asks customers to download and install an application named BOI Mobile Digital to update their KYC details.

PIB Fact Check has flagged the notice as fake and clarified that neither the Bank of India nor the Reserve Bank of India has issued any such notice.

PIB Fact Check said the circulating image did not originate from the Bank of India. The agency said the Bank of India did not issue the notice.

The fact-check agency has advised people not to rely on the circulated notice and to verify such information through official sources before taking any action.

The warning comes amid the circulation of the purported notice, which links account blocking with the non-updation of Aadhaar and PAN-based KYC details and directs customers towards the BOI Mobile Digital application.

PIB Fact Check has urged citizens to rely only on official sources for verified information and exercise caution when receiving messages or notices requesting financial or personal information.

The agency has also asked people to report suspicious content related to the Government of India through its official fact-checking channels.

People can report suspicious content to PIB Fact Check through WhatsApp at +91 8799711259 or by email at factcheck@pib.gov.in.
