A viral PDF claiming that a partial lockdown would be imposed from April 15 has triggered confusion and concern across social media platforms, including WhatsApp and Instagram.
The document, titled ‘Delhi Govt Press Release on Partial Lockdown Effective from 15th April 26′, appeared to be an official notice and was widely shared among users.
The file’s convincing format and the presence of the national emblem led many to believe it was genuine. References to the Delhi Government added to its credibility.
The confusion deepened as concerns grew over issues such as LPG shortages and broader speculation about restrictions.
The document suggested that a partial lockdown would come into effect from April 15, sparking panic among users who forwarded it across platforms. Its official-looking design added to its credibility, causing many to click and circulate it without verification.
Upon opening the file, the message inside reads ‘April Fool’, confirming that it is merely a prank.
The timing of the circulation amplified its impact, coinciding with ongoing discussions about potential disruptions and crisis preparedness.
There has been no official announcement from authorities regarding any lockdown measures.
The viral document is not a legitimate government notification.
Recent remarks by PM Narendra Modi in Parliament further fuelled the confusion. He spoke about the West Asia conflict and emphasised the need for preparedness for a Covid-like situation.
Despite this, there is no evidence to suggest that any lockdown is being planned or implemented from April 15. Users are advised to verify such claims through official sources before sharing to avoid spreading misinformation.
