Deepfake Alert: PIB Exposes Fake Video Using PM Modi To Promote Investment Scam

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has debunked an AI-generated video that falsely portrays Prime Minister Narendra Modi endorsing a secret investment platform allegedly open to all Indian citizens.

The fabricated video claims that individuals can earn substantial monthly returns by making a minimum deposit of ₹22,000 through major banks, including SBI and HDFC Bank. It further promises profits of up to ₹3.5 lakh per month and suggests that investors can withdraw their earnings without difficulty.

PIB Fact Check clarified that the video is entirely misleading and does not reflect any official government initiative.

Authorities confirmed that neither the Prime Minister nor the Government of India has endorsed or promoted any such investment scheme.

The fact-checking agency warned citizens against falling prey to fraudulent content generated using artificial intelligence and deepfake technologies.

Officials emphasised that scammers increasingly use manipulated videos of public figures to create a false sense of legitimacy and deceive unsuspecting individuals.

Official sources urged the public to verify all financial claims through authorised government channels before investing money in any platform. They also advised citizens to remain cautious of advertisements promising unusually high returns with minimal risk.

PIB Fact Check encouraged users to report such deceptive content immediately to help curb misinformation and prevent financial fraud.

Authorities stressed that public vigilance remains essential in countering the spread of digitally manipulated material online.

The advisory comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of AI tools to create convincing fake videos and investment scams.

Officials reiterated that citizens should rely only on verified information and avoid sharing unverified content on social media platforms.
