Explained: Trump-Harris Presidential Debate, Key Points

In what is known as one of the key ritual of US Presidential election, Democrat and Republican candidates traded barbs in fiery Debate. The Presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris took place on September 10, Tuesday. The first and probably the only one debate between Harris and Trump consisted questions regarding Economy, Border and Abortion among others.

In an attempt to deflect allegations from other sides and present vision for the country in front of national audience both the candidates faced each other off.

With only eight weeks until election day and polls taking place in some states, Trump and Harris face-off for 90 minutes in primetime. The debate that started with a warm handshake, descended to acrimony and allegations at Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center.

Top highlights from Trump-Harris Presidential debate

The two candidates exchanged heated arguments on range of subjects like Unemployment, Inflation, Abortion, Immigration including Israel war on Gaza.

The Economic Point

Clashing over the US’s Economy and claiming of clearing each other’s mess, the two fought a close battle on economy. While Harris played on high tariff on foreign good by Trump regime, Donald Trump appreciated his tenure for combating inflation which he alleged incompetent policies of democrats caused.

“Donald Trump left us the worst unemployment since the Great Depression,” Harris said, referring to his years as president from 2017-2021. “What we have done is clean up Donald Trump’s mess,” she further maintained.

Trump claiming of the persistent inflation during Biden tenure, said that the inflation had been disaster for every class of society.

Immigrants from ‘insane-asylum’ crossing American Border: Trump during Presidential Debate

Forewarning about the trump’s obsession about immigrants crossing American border, Kamala said that trump would talk about the immigration abundantly, which in her opinion wasn’t even the issue being raised.

On the other hand Trump claimed that people are crossing American border, citing it as reason for America’s failure or downfall.

Weaponization of Justice Department

An argument which both put forward and accused each other for is weaponization of Justice Department. Democrat and Republican both accused each other of weaponizing Justice Department to go after their enemies.

Trump accused Biden and Harris of conspiring against him in mishandling of classified documents and hush money payment to a porn star case as there has been no proofs to back the assertions.

Along with these subjects of importance Trump and Harris exchanged heated arguments on Ukraine-Russia war, Abortion in America and Israel war on Gaza. In a statement, Harris claimed of Putin sitting in Kyiv if Trump was the president.

Notably It was first between Harris and Trump and second Presidential debate ahead of Presidential elections 2024, which, earlier, was supposed to be contested by Democratic candidate Joe Biden and Republican face Donald Trump. The first Presidential debate took place between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Notably, Biden announced his candidacy withdrawal on July, 21 after first Presidential debate on June, 27, 2024.
