The World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 is set to take place from May 1 to May 4 at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre, promising to be a landmark gathering for the global Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry.
Organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in partnership with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the Create in India Challenge, the summit brings together top creatives, storytellers, and industry professionals under one roof.
Backed by Netflix and executed by Reskilll, WAVES Summit 2025 will be a hub for innovation in storytelling, digital content, and filmmaking.
The build-up to WAVES Summit 2025 has been remarkable. From over 3,000 applications, organisers shortlisted the top 600 candidates for intensive training.
These individuals now form a skilled cohort ready to engage with the summit’s highlights, including the much-anticipated Trailer Making Competition.
The Trailer Making Competition aims to spotlight and nurture emerging storytellers.
With 134 entries, the contest has attracted a diverse mix of creative minds eager to showcase their skills in crafting short, impactful trailers.
The competition showcases skills and offers participants visibility in the M&E industry.
To ensure maximum outreach and engagement, the WAVES team has conducted an engaging roadshow across college campuses.
These events aim to expose young talents to current industry trends and bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications.
One of the summit’s most significant components has been the immersive, hands-on training workshops.
Industry experts trained participants in trailer editing, sound design, music, and storytelling.
These sessions aim to empower aspiring filmmakers with both the technical and creative tools necessary for success.
Adding to the summit’s dynamic format, live demonstrations by seasoned professionals have brought real-time learning to life.
Watching an expert build a trailer from scratch allows participants to understand subtle creative decisions.
Following the demo, participants apply their new knowledge to craft their own trailers, making the experience both interactive and practical.
