Vikrant Massey’s Intense Transformation for “12th Fail”: Weight Loss and Skin Burn

In an interview with GQ India, Vikrant Massey—who won big at the Filmfare Awards this year for his outstanding performance as a UPSC candidate in 12th Fail—recently disclosed that getting ready for his role as Manoj Kumar was both rewarding and challenging. “I spent almost a year and a half preparing for the film, and the three months prior to the shooting were filled with extensive workshops and reading sessions,” the 36-year-old actor said when discussing his preparation. I needed to get a tan and lose weight. My skin actually burned while I was tanning, and I freaked out, thinking we would have to postpone our shoot by a few weeks.

According to Vikrant Massey, when he informed Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the director of the movie, about the skin burn, he proposed that they shoot “raw.” He declared that we would no longer require makeup and that this was a blessing. We’d be entering uncooked. The emotional burden of portraying this character was, for me, the most difficult aspect of the process. A person who stands for the aspirations of millions of Indians. to convey an authentic Indian tale that would appeal to the general public,” he stated.

Vikrant Massey previously talked candidly about his time on television in an interview with Unfiltered by Samdish. Vikrant acted in popular serials like Baba Aisa Var Dhoondho, Dharam Veer, and Balika Vadhu before breaking into the film industry. “Back in the day, artistes would shoot for 18-20 hours,” Vikrant recalled, recalling days of hardships and demanding shift work on Unfiltered by Samdish. It got to the point where I had to shoot nonstop for 110 hours.
