Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has opened up about how his forthcoming film Border 2 profoundly impacted him, both professionally and personally.
Sharing a series of images from the set on Instagram, Dhawan described the war drama as a project that pushed [him] to [his] limits and credited the cast and crew for supporting him throughout the experience.
“A battle #border2 A film that really pushed me to my limits. An experience which so many people helped me get through. It changed me for good,” he wrote, underlining the transformative nature of the shoot.
Varun revealed that the making of Border 2 coincided with a challenging period in his life. “Injuries, personal life changes and submitting to@the craft,” he shared, highlighting both the physical and emotional toll of portraying a soldier in the high-intensity war drama.
He also expressed excitement for audiences, adding that he “can’t wait for everyone to watch this film tomorrow,” alongside a piece of his favourite background score from the project.
Gulshan Kumar and T-Series present Border 2 in collaboration with JP Dutta’s JP Films. Anurag Singh directs the film, with producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta supporting the project. Inspired by the 1971 war and real-life events, the film is set to release on 23 January.
The original Border, released in 1997 and directed by JP Dutta, became a blockbuster with its ensemble cast, including Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, and others. The sequel aims to continue the legacy of depicting patriotism and heroism on screen.
After Border 2, Varun Dhawan will star in the romantic drama Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, alongside co-stars Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur.
The filmmakers have rescheduled the film from its initial release date of 10 April 2026 to 5 June. The story follows a young man navigating rejection, with divine intervention helping him, and blends humour with romance.
