Shaan Opens Up About His Acting Experience In Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya

Singer Shaan, widely celebrated for his soulful voice and hit songs, took a surprising turn into acting with the 2014 Bollywood film Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya, which also starred Mika Singh.

During a recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Shaan revealed that Mika Singh had misled him about the project, and his entry into the movie was far from planned.

When host Kapil Sharma asked whether acting had always been Shaan’s dream or if someone had persuaded him into it, the singer responded with a humorous yet candid admission.

Mika Singh misled Shaan by painting an entirely different picture of the film’s script and production process.

Shaan recounted that while on holiday with his family, he received a call from Mika Singh inviting him to join the film.

Mika described the script as ‘amazing’ and promised a ‘laughing ride’, mentioning the presence of well-known actors like Anupam Kher and Asrani.

Believing Mika had thoroughly reviewed the script, Shaan agreed to take part, feeling relaxed about the project given Mika’s involvement.

An Improvised Shoot

However, Shaan soon discovered that the reality was very different.

He revealed that there was no fixed script; the crew would decide on scenes to shoot each morning, often on the spot.

The singer described how he would arrive on set in full makeup, only to spend hours waiting around doing menial tasks until Mika showed up after 2:00 PM.

“The director would assign scenes to others and then leave,” Shaan explained. “Those scenes were never used. It was basically killing time until Mika arrived on set.”

This improvised style of filming surprised Shaan, contrasting sharply with his expectations of a well-organised production.

Despite the chaotic shoot, Shaan’s experience in Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya remains a memorable chapter in his career.

The singer’s light-hearted recounting of the film’s behind-the-scenes happenings resonated with audiences, providing an amusing glimpse into the less glamorous side of filmmaking.

While Shaan continues to focus primarily on his musical career, this candid revelation showcases his willingness to embrace new challenges — even if they don’t always go as planned.
