Rani Mukherji At KIFF with Shahrukh Khan
Rani Mukherji: The actor has a lot to celebrate as she was felicitated at the Kolkata International Film Festival 2022 (KIFF) for her outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema. The said honour was bestowed upon the Bengali beauty on Thursday, Rani said, “A visit to Kolkata is always special to me as it brings back childhood memories and reminds me of my love for cinema that grew in my heart from an early age. Kolkata International Film Festival has celebrated the legacy of filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak, Mrinal Sen and many Bengalis artists and technicians who have contributed to creating this vibrant Indian film industry and I’m honoured that this time they have decided to celebrate my career and felicitate me along with other achievers.”
The festival also saw a ‘K3G moment’ being recreated as Rani was seen kissing Shahrukh Khan’s hand at the KIFF stage. This sent fans gushing over a ‘Tina-Rahul’ being recreated. Other real life visuals seen at the inaugural of the KIFF event like Shahrukh Khan touching the feet of Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan were also all reminiscent of the 2001 film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham film directed by Karan Johar.
In the film Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh played the role of Shahrukh’s parents and Tina played by Rani Mukherji was Rahul’s (played by Shahrukh Khan) first love and wife.
Photos of Amitabh Bachchan hugging the Mardaani actress all made for family moments straight out of K3G.
A well deserved honour for Rani Mukherji. The actor was last seen in the 2019 film Mardani 2, sequel to the original 2014 film Mardani. She gave a gripping and critically acclaimed performance in the titular role of a cop.
Apart from the many acting honours Rani has received over the years she has also been honoured by The National Institute of Gender Justice for her contribution to gender sensitization.
