Businessman Raj Kundra has secured bail from a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act court in Mumbai in connection with the alleged Rs 150 crore Bitcoin laundering case.
The court directed him to furnish a surety of Rs 1 lakh. It also ordered that he must seek prior approval before travelling abroad.
The special PMLA court granted relief after reviewing submissions in the matter.
Investigators had earlier alleged his involvement based on the prosecution’s complaint and supporting records.
Last month, the same court summoned Kundra and New Delhi-based entrepreneur Rajesh Satija, citing prima facie indications of participation in financial irregularities.
Following the bail order, Kundra briefly addressed the press. When reporters asked whether he trusted the judiciary, he replied, ‘Absolutely’. He then added, ‘Satyamev Jayate’,signalling confidence in due process.
Journalists also questioned his decision to abandon the masks he had worn during previous public appearances.
Kundra responded that circumstances had changed. He remarked that he would now remove the ‘masks of others,’ though he did not clarify his statement.
Advocate Prashant Patil, representing Kundra, stated that his client has cooperated with the Enforcement Directorate since 2018.
He confirmed that Kundra is considering approaching the High Court to seek the quashing of the summons issued in the Enforcement Directorate matter.
Kundra married Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty in November 2009 in a traditional South Indian ceremony.
The couple has two children, Viaan Raj Kundra and Samisha Shetty Kundra.
In recent years, Kundra has ventured into entertainment. He debuted as an actor in the 2023 film UT69.
He later appeared as a contestant on The Traitors on Prime Video but exited on Day 2, finishing 19th.
His latest screen appearance came in the Punjabi drama Meher, where he shared the frame with Geeta Basra.
The case continues under judicial scrutiny as authorities pursue further proceedings.
