On the first anniversary of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s death, Pakistani Sufi artist Rahat Fateh Ali Khan dedicated a Qawwali to him.
At a concert in California, the musician, famed for songs like ‘Mann ki lagan’, ‘Jiya dhadak dhadak’, ‘Bol na halke halke’ and ‘Dagabaaz re’, dedicated soulful qawwali ‘Akhiyan Udeek Diyan’ to Sidhu Moosewala.
Several concert footage has gone viral on the internet.
Moose Wala, true name Shubhdeep Singh, was assassinated last year on May 29 in Punjab’s Mansa district.
With songs like ‘So High’, ‘Same Beef’, ‘The Last Ride’, ‘Just Listen’ and ‘295’, the singer-rapper gained a cult following in India and internationally.
On Monday, a candle march was held in Mansa in remembrance of Moose Wala.
Fans and followers of the late musician came in great numbers to Moosa Hamlet to take part in a candle march to seek justice for him.
Charan Jaur, Moose Wala’s mother, also joined the march.
In memory of the slain singer, prayers were held at a gurdwara in Jawahar Ke village.
