Radhika Madan Shares How Persistence Earned Her Role In Angrezi Medium

In a candid conversation on Farah Khan’s popular cooking vlog, Radhika Madan revealed that her role in Angrezi Medium did not come easily. She recalled how the makers had already finalised someone else for the part.

However, she refused to back down. “They told me, Ma’am, we are looking for a 17-year-old,” but I insisted.

I kept pushing and finally said, “Please, just take my audition!” Radhika said.

Radhika admitted that her persistence may have irritated director Homi Adajania, who finally gave in.

“I annoyed him so much that he eventually said, ‘Fine, take her audition’. I didn’t even think I’d get the role since it was the era of star kids, but I just wanted the chance to prove myself,” she added.

Farah Khan’s Playful Tease

During the chat, Farah Khan cheekily asked if a star kid had been locked for the role before her. Radhika laughed and said she was unsure.

Farah joked, “People keep saying star kids don’t let outsiders work, but you’re the real culprit here, you stole a star kid’s role!”

Radhika took the remark in stride, admitting that her determination was the only reason she got the opportunity.

Radhika began her career with the hit TV show ‘Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi’ before transitioning into films.

Her performances in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Pataakha’ and Vasan Bala’s ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ earned her critical acclaim. ‘Angrezi Medium’ alongside Irrfan Khan cemented her reputation as one of the most promising young actors in the industry.

Looking ahead, Radhika has an exciting slate of films. She will be seen in ‘Rumi Ki Sharafat’ with Sharib Hashmi and Nishak Verma, a light-hearted comedy produced by Maddock Films.

She is also set to star in ‘Happy Teacher’s Day’, a social thriller alongside Nimrat Kaur.

Radhika’s story highlights how perseverance can change the course of a career. By refusing to accept rejection and demanding to be heard, she turned what seemed like a lost opportunity into one of her most defining roles.

Speaking to Farah Khan, she concluded, “Sometimes, all you need is one chance and the courage to fight for it.”
