Preity Zinta Reveals ‘Kya Kehna’ Was Her First Film, Not ‘Dil Se’

Actor Preity Zinta once spoke about the confusion surrounding her entry into Bollywood, noting that many people assume Dil Se was her debut film.

She clarified, “The first film I had signed was Shekhar Kapoor’s Tara Rum Pum Pum, but nothing happened to it.”

The actor also shared, “After that, I signed this film, which is being released now, called Kya Kehna. I had completed the shooting of this film earlier. Dil Se was my third or fourth film, but it released earlier. So that’s how it came.”

Even so, Dil Se became her breakthrough project. In the film, she appeared alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala under the direction of Mani Ratnam, gaining widespread recognition.

Rise in Popularity

After entering the industry, Zinta quickly rose to prominence and became one of the leading actors of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Her performances and screen presence helped her build a strong fan base.

She went on to feature in several successful films, including Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer-Zaara, and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Films like Soldier and Kya Kehna also played a key role in strengthening her career.

After a successful run in Bollywood, Zinta stepped back from mainstream cinema following her marriage to Gene Goodenough and relocated to the United States.

Currently, Preity Zinta is raising her twin children and remains active in engaging with her audience while focusing on her personal life.
