Prayagraj will host the International Prayagraj Film Festival 2026 from October 30 to November 1, bringing together filmmakers, artists and industry experts to discuss cinema, cultural heritage and emerging technologies.
The three-day event aims to provide young filmmakers with opportunities to showcase their talent and learn from experienced professionals.
Organisers have unveiled the festival’s awards ahead of the event.
Organised under the banner of Madhubala Films, the festival aims to promote cinema beyond entertainment by highlighting social issues, cultural traditions and the creative perspectives of younger generations.
The festival opens on October 30 at Hotel Prayag Inn, with Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta attending as chief guest. Filmmakers will discuss cinema’s social and cultural impact.
On October 31, experts will lead sessions on filmmaking, writing, direction, acting, cinematography and AI in film production.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is expected at the November 1 closing ceremony at MNNIT, where organisers will honour selected films and creative contributors.
The festival will, however, promote artists working in Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Braj and Bundelkhandi.
Madhubala Films chairman Alok Malviya said regional-language stories deserve wider recognition.
Dr Garima Kushwaha, who oversees IT for the organising committee, said the festival would help local young people understand the technical aspects of filmmaking and interact with industry experts.
Organisers believe successful filmmaking requires not only technological expertise but human sensitivity and original thinking. They hope the festival will strengthen Prayagraj’s creative landscape and encourage greater participation in cinema and related activities.
