Actress Madhuri Dixit has praised the traditional textiles of Odisha, describing them as expressions of heritage shaped through generations of craftsmanship.
In a recent social media post, she spoke about the artistic depth of the state’s weaving practices, noting that these creations reflect dedication, skill and cultural continuity. She emphasised that such textiles represent more than clothing, pointing to the time and effort invested by artisans.
Odisha is widely recognised for its distinctive handloom styles, particularly ikat and Sambalpuri weaves, known for their intricate patterns and vivid colour combinations. These textiles form an important part of India’s broader cultural and artistic landscape.
On the professional front, Madhuri Dixit most recently appeared in the comedy-horror film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee. The film featured an ensemble cast including Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan and Triptii Dimri.
Madhuri Dixit also appeared in the streaming series Mrs Deshpande, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, where she portrayed a complex lead role. The show featured performances from Siddharth Chandekar and Priyanshu Chatterjee, among others.
Madhuri Dixit began her career with the film Abodh and rose to prominence with Tezaab. She went on to headline several successful films, including Dil, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Dil To Pagal Hai, establishing herself as one of the leading actors of her time.
Over the years, she has also taken on roles in television, serving as a judge on popular dance reality shows such as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Dance Deewane.
