Prime Video will premiere the Indian version of the internationally acclaimed reality show ‘The Traitors’ on June 12, with Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar as the host.

The reality series promises intense drama, deception, and suspense as 20 celebrities navigate a high-stakes game of trust and betrayal.

Karan Johar To Host Adaptation Of Global Hit Format

The show is based on the BAFTA and Emmy award-winning format originally created by IDTV and distributed by All3Media International.

BBC Studios India Productions is producing the Indian version in collaboration with All3Media.

With more than 35 adaptations across 30+ countries, The Traitors has emerged as one of the fastest-growing reality show formats globally.

Karan Johar Teases Show’s Intrigue On Instagram

Karan Johar revealed a teaser for the show on Instagram, offering cryptic hints about the participating celebrities.

His narration included lines like, “Yahan hongi woh rebel jo kid hote huye bhi badhi baatein karti hai,” and “Jo karte has mask ke peeche controversies,” among others, hinting at the drama to come.

Johar announced, “I’ll be your host… where no one is anyone’s true friend. Welcome to The Traitors… where trust ends and the game begins. Rise and shine. It’s betrayal time.”

He captioned his post: “Yahan trust is rare, but dhokha is everywhere! #TheTraitorsOnPrime, a new reality series coming on June 12 only on @primevideoin.”

Prime Video Expands Into Reality Entertainment

Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals at Prime Video India, said the platform is making a strategic expansion into unscripted content with The Traitors.

“Packed with drama, manipulation, suspenseful gameplay, and unexpected twists, the show is mounted on a grand scale with high production values,” Madhok said.

He added, “We’re thrilled to have Karan Johar as the host—who better to stoke the fire in this volatile mix of 20 celebrities, each vying for a massive cash prize and the title of ultimate winner!”

A Star-Studded Reality Thriller

Sabrina Duguet, EVP APAC at All3Media International, expressed excitement about the Indian adaptation.

“The show will deliver high-calibre celebrities and intense drama, all wrapped in a thriller-esque gameplay,” she said.

Neha Khurana called The Traitors a must-watch for fans of high-stakes reality, thanks to its celebrity cast and shocking twists.

With a unique concept and Johar at the helm, The Traitors promises to redefine reality entertainment in India.
