The makers of Arshad Warsi-starrer Jeevan Bheema Yojana have announced a new release date for the upcoming dark comedy.
The film, which was earlier scheduled to release on August 28, will now reach theatres on September 4.
The reason for the change has not been disclosed.
Arshad Warsi will appear in a double role for the first time in the film. Sanjeeda Shaikh, Vijay Raaz, Pooja Chopra and Bijendra Kala are part of the cast.
Sanjeeda plays Yojana, Jeevan’s resourceful wife, while Vijay Raaz portrays the mysterious Vinayak.
The film follows Jeevan, played by Warsi, and his wife Yojana as they struggle with mounting debt. Their situation changes when they encounter Bheema, a stranger who looks exactly like Jeevan.
The couple then devise what appears to be a foolproof plan to fake Jeevan’s death and claim an insurance payout. Their plan takes an unexpected turn when they discover that the man presumed dead has links to a dangerous diamond-smuggling network.
Director Abhishek Dogra has described the film as a dark comedy centred on ordinary people making an extraordinary decision and facing its consequences. He highlighted Warsi’s performance in portraying both characters.
Jeevan Bheema Yojana has been backed by Anshu Mishra under the banners of Star Beam Ventures Ltd, formerly BlueGod Entertainment Ltd.
