‘Gulmohar’ Chosen For Three Awards, Manoj Bajpayee Expresses Joy

Celebrated for his fine acting, acclaimed star Manoj Bajpayee expresses his  joy over nomination of ‘Gulmohar’ for three awards, as he gives interview to a news agency. He says that he is very proud for ‘Gulmohar’ has been chosen for Best film, Best Screenplay award and the actor getting a special mention at 70th National Film award.

“All I can say is that I am too happy for my director and feel very proud that Gulmohar is chosen for 3 awards ! A film which holds a very special place in my heart,” Manoj said.

“Gulmohar”, which also stars Sharmila Tagore, released in March 2023. It told the story of a family drama revolving around the multi-generation family who is all set to move out of their 34-year-old family home. It also marked the return of Tagore on the screens after 13 years as she was last seen in “Break Ke Baad” starring Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone.

Manoj has received numerous accolades, including three National Film Awards and two Asia Pacific Screen Awards. In 2019, he was honored with India’s fourth-highest civilian award, the Padma Shri, in recognition of his contributions to the arts. He also won the Special Jury National Award in 2003 for his role in “Pinjar.” Additionally, in 2016, he was nominated for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards for his performance in filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s “Aligarh.”

Manoj’s last film was Apoorv Singh Karki “Bhaiyaa Ji”.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting revealed the winners in the National Capital. On October 2024, the winners will receive honour by President Droupadi Murmu in a ceremony. In the ceremony, recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke, will also receive their awards.
