Gadar 2 by Sunny Deol keeps roaring at the box office. At the box office, the follow-up to the war drama from 2001 has proved irresistible. Gadar 2 experienced a significant increase on Saturday, earning Rs 12.5 crore, bringing the 16-day total to Rs 438.70 crore after a minor decline during the previous week. The Anil Sharma-directed movie has now surpassed KGF 2’s earnings (Rs 435 crore) to move up to third place among Hindi-language films.
Only Pathaan (Rs 543 crores net) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 511 crores net) have earned more money than the Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel movies so far. However, it’s improbable that Gadar 2 will outperform its two predecessors. According to speculation, Gadar 2 would break Rs 500 crore in its fourth week. The biggest obstacle could be the September 7 release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.
Anil Sharma, the film’s director, revealed in a recent interview that he and Sunny Deol, the movie’s star, never paid attention to the box office buzz. They were able to “make a space in people’s hearts” with Gadar 2, as he stated they hoped to do.
Anil Sharma responded to India.com when asked how he feels about Gadar 2 perhaps outperforming Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan: “I don’t believe in figures. Pathaan has done very well; even KGF (Chapter 2) did exceptionally well, and now Gadar 2 is performing as well. Let’s see how far the public takes it and how far it goes itself now. The public owns the movie. We have already surpassed the $400 billion milestone, will pass the $500 billion mark in the upcoming week, and perhaps even hit the $1,000 billion mark at some point. So, rather than just focusing on the figures, we also aim to win over people’s hearts.
