Comedian Kevin Brennan has drawn criticism for criticizing Matthew Perry’s death, saying, “I do love it when junkies die.”

One tweet that made fun of the passing of beloved celebrity and “friend” Mathew Perry—better known to many as Chandler Bing from Friends—sparked indignation among fans worldwide as they grieved his passing.

Kevin Brennan, a former writer and comedian for Saturday Night Live, drew criticism and contempt for his offensive comments regarding Mathew Perry’s passing. Known for his podcast, The MLC Podcast, Kevin spent two years writing for the renowned sketch comedy show. This past weekend, he posted on social media with the caption, “Drowned in a hot tub, hahahaha.”

The comic didn’t stop there and was proud of himself for drawing attention to his offensive remarks. “I will never understand the mindset of someone who posts shit like this,” was the response to a tweet. Since you must be ill, I hope you get well. He said, “Thank you.”

Later, he went farther to display his narrow-minded beliefs, boasting that the TMZ had exposed his insensitivity: “I didn’t mock it.” It was just humorous to me. I do, however, adore it when addicts pass away.

Remind me to laugh when it’s your turn, a reader wrote. “I’ll probably forget,” he remarked. It appeared that he was simply taking pleasure in the unwelcome attention he was receiving for disclosing his terrible mentality.

Afterwards, he exacerbated the situation by responding to a user’s inquiry about why drowning in a hot tub was humorous, saying, “Because it’s not very deep.”

In its piece, TMZ described how Brenin, who has been irrelevant since the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s, only used the occasion to bask in the limelight. His only claim to fame, according to the publication, is his blood tie to brother Neal Brennan, who co-created and wrote Chappelle’s Show and with whom he is also at odds.
