Bomman, the director of The Elephant Whisperers, has since revised earlier criticisms of Kartiki Gonsalves. She received a notification from him seeking 2 crore.
“The Elephant Whisperers” couple – Bomman and Bellie, who featured in the movie claimed that Kartiki Gonsalves, the director of the film, took money from them to shoot scenes for the movie and has not yet refunded them. This accusation comes months after “The Elephant Whisperers” won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film at the 95th Academy Awards.
Mahout Bomman, the actor who portrayed Kartiki Gonsalves in the Oscar-winning documentary The Elephant Whisperers, has apologized for his earlier remarks. Kartiki hasn’t given Bomman and Bellie their money back despite their claims that they paid for the wedding scene in the documentary. Additionally, they had made a number of accusations against Kartiki.
Bomman currently quotes himself as saying, “I did not declare I would withdraw the case if my requests were satisfied. I have no idea what transpired there. I have no idea who sent the lawyer’s letter or the advocate. I don’t have any supporting documentation. Kartiki spoke to me clearly and promised to assist me. Bomman responded, “What will I do with the case? “when asked if he would pursue the case. They have given me this position and promised to assist me.
Bomman and Bellie discussed the documentary’s wedding scene a few days ago in an interview with Behindwoods in Tamil, as reported by India Today. They claimed that Kartiki wanted to film the wedding scene in a single day but lacked the funds to do so, so she asked them to make the necessary arrangements. They continued, “It cost us about one lakh.” Kartiki assured them that she would pay them back, but she hasn’t done so yet.

Kartiki Gonsalves published a statement disputing all allegations after the video went viral. She claimed in a statement that all claims are false.
“The Elephant Whisperers was always intended to raise awareness of elephant conservation and the outstanding work being done by the Forest Department and its mahouts, Bomman and Bellie. The documentary has had a significant impact on the Mahouts and Cavadis community since its release and has increased awareness of the issue. Our honorable chief minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, has contributed money to building eco-friendly housing for the 91 Mahouts and Cavadis who care for the state’s elephants and creating an elephant camp in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve.
Heads of state from all over India have praised the documentary, and the Academy Award is a source of great pride for the country because it has helped mahouts like Bomman and Bellie gain widespread recognition for their efforts.

Every assertion made is false. We continue to be motivated by the desire to bring about positive change and have the utmost respect for everyone who contributed to this narrative.
Following the movie’s widespread acclaim, the state and union governments gave the producers and the couple financial honours. Bomman, Bellie, and the Tamil Nadu government each received a house and a reward of Rs 1 lakh, while Kartiki was given a sizeable sum of Rs 1 crore by the state government.
