The makers of ‘Udta Teer’, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role, have rescheduled the film’s cinema release from October 9 to October 23.
The production team announced the change on Friday by unveiling a fresh poster carrying the new release date.
The revised schedule is intended to give the film a more favourable theatrical window rather than entering a crowded marketplace with limited screen availability.
The makers also expect the change to help attract more audiences once films such as ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ and ‘The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest’ finish their theatrical runs.
The film blends comedy with patriotism, and Suhail Nayyar reportedly plays the antagonist.
Ayushmann plays Bilal Ahmed, a Pakistani spy who loses his memory after arriving in India and eventually starts believing that he belongs to the country.
The actor had earlier described the film’s unusual premise, saying, “My film ‘Udta Teer’ is releasing on October 9. It is a very different story. I want to say that it is India’s first patriotic comedy where I become a Pakistani spy and lose my memory in India”.
“My character in the film starts fighting for India. So in a way, he remembers patriotism, but he forgets which country it is. So it’s a very beautiful story”, he added.
Ayushmann also spoke about director Akash and the creative world created for the film.
With the revised schedule, ‘Udta Teer’ will now open in cinemas on October 23.
