Asha Bhosle Undergoes Treatment In Mumbai After Cardiac Arrest

Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after suffering a cardiac arrest on Saturday. The 92-year-old singer is currently undergoing treatment in the Emergency Medical Services unit.

Breach Candy Doctor Pratit Samdani confirmed the development, stating, “Legendary playback icon Asha Bhosale suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday, April 10 and admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where she is currently undergoing treatment in the Emergency Medical Services unit.”

One of the most influential voices in Indian music, Asha Bhosle, began her journey as a playback singer with the 1943 Marathi drama Majha Bal. She later made her Bollywood debut with the song ‘Sawan Aya’ in the Hindi film Chunariya (1948).

Over the decades, she delivered numerous iconic songs, including ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko’, ‘Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani’, ‘Kya Ghazab Karte Ho Ji’, ‘O Haseena Zulfonwale Jane Jahan’, and ‘Ye Ladka Hay Allah Kaisa Hai Diwana’. She has sung in around 20 Indian and foreign languages and, as she revealed in 2006, has nearly 12,000 songs to her credit.

During her long and illustrious career, Bhosle collaborated with celebrated composers such as RD Burman, OP Nayyar, Ilaiyaraaja, Bappi Lahiri, and AR Rahman, among others. She has received several honours, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

In addition, she has won seven Filmfare Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Beyond singing, she also explored acting and appeared in the 2013 Marathi film Mai. Her passion for cooking also defines her.
