Animal box office collection day 9 early report: Ranbir Kapoor’s film remains untamable, Inches closer to Rs 400 Cr mark

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s latest film, Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, continues to demonstrate robust box office performance, despite a gradual decline in daily collections since its second week in theaters. The film, which has been critiqued for its apparent misogyny and glorification of toxic masculinity and violence, has managed to outshine its major competitor, Atlee Kumar’s Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan.

On its second Friday, Animal earned an impressive Rs 23.34 crore in India, maintaining strong figures with Rs 25.95 crore on Saturday, bringing its total domestic nett to Rs 386.48 crore. This surpasses the second Friday collection of Jawan, which recorded Rs 19.1 crore. However, the film faces a tough challenge as Jawan garnered Rs 31.8 nett on its second Saturday.

Despite the criticisms, Animal has achieved significant milestones, reaching Rs 600 crore worldwide, making it the fourth-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, trailing behind Gadar 2, Pathaan, and Jawan. The movie has also surpassed the box office collection of Sanju, becoming Ranbir Kapoor’s highest-grossing film to date.

The star-studded cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor, has contributed to the film’s success, and it is anticipated to maintain its dominance at the box office until the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki on December 21.

Despite its commercial success, Animal faces controversy as Chhattisgarh Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan raised concerns in the Rajya Sabha. She stated that her daughter, who watched the film with college friends, broke down in tears due to its content. Ranjan also criticized the use of the song “Arjan Vailly” in the film, citing potential hurt to religious sentiments, as the song has historical significance related to Hari Singh Nalwa and the Sikh Force.

As the film continues to draw audiences and generate revenue, the debate over its content and societal impact is likely to persist, with contrasting views on its cinematic success and potential influence on the youth.
