Alleged Gunman Nabbed In Rohit Shetty House Firing Case; Arrest Tally Climbs To 11

The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken into custody the individual suspected of opening fire outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence earlier this month. Officers tracked down the accused in Rajasthan and carried out the arrest.

Investigators have also detained several others in connection with the case, including individuals picked up from Uttar Pradesh. Following these developments, the total number of persons in custody has reached 11.

On 11 February, police produced five suspects before a special court and invoked provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), 1999. After their earlier remand period concluded, authorities extended MCOCA charges to all those arrested in the case.

The accused subsequently appeared before a designated MCOCA court. The court remanded five of them to police custody until 17 February 2026. Although investigators had sought a 15-day remand, the court granted custody only up to the specified date.

The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, introduced in 1999, equips law enforcement agencies with enhanced powers to tackle organised criminal activity and terrorism.

Investigation into the Shooting

Unidentified assailants fired five shots outside Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu earlier this month, prompting an intensive investigation. During the probe, officials found that the vehicle allegedly used in the incident had been arranged from Pune.

Police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack and are exploring possible links to organised crime networks.

Rohit Shetty gained widespread recognition with the 2006 comedy Golmaal, featuring Ajay Devgn and Arshad Warsi, which performed strongly at the box office. He expanded the franchise with successful sequels such as Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3.

He later strengthened his reputation in the action genre with Singham, which evolved into a larger Cop Universe, including Singham Returns, Simmba, Sooryavanshi, and Singham Again. Among his other commercially successful films are All the Best: Fun Begins, Bol Bachchan, and Chennai Express, starring Shah Rukh Khan.
