Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji has highlighted the immense legacy of legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, noting that his son, Aditya Chopra, continues to honour and expand his father’s cinematic vision.
She shared her thoughts during an exclusive interaction with IANS while engaging with women officers of the Delhi Police.
Reflecting on Yash Raj Films, Rani described it as an institution built on Yash Chopra’s prolific and versatile body of work. She pointed out that his filmography spanned nearly every genre, citing classics such as Waqt, Deewar, Trishul, Noorie, Chandni and Lamhe.
According to Rani, this rare versatility set Yash Chopra apart as a filmmaker who constantly evolved with time while remaining rooted in strong storytelling.
Rani said Aditya Chopra has carried forward the Yash Raj Films banner by following in his father’s footsteps. She noted that under his leadership, the production house continues to back films across genres, reflecting the same creative openness that defined Yash Chopra’s career.
Speaking about her upcoming film Mardaani 3, Rani said the franchise remains committed to hard-hitting, socially relevant narratives.
Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra, the third instalment explores another dark and brutal reality of society, further strengthening the franchise’s legacy.
Actor Janaki Bodiwala joins the film in a pivotal role, while Aayush Gupta has penned the script.
Mardaani 3 releases worldwide in theatres on January 30, continuing the impactful journey that began with Mardaani in 2014 and its sequel in 2019.
