Amidst the escalating political fervour leading up to the Lok Sabha elections, the Sarojini Nagar assembly constituency witnessed a significant event on Friday, where Mohanlalganj MP and Union Minister Kaushal Kishore, alongside Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh, made a remarkable stride by dismantling the stronghold of the opposition. This action resulted in a substantial shift in allegiance as Banthra Nagar Panchayat President Ramavati Rawat, along with five councillors and a multitude of supporters, defected from their former party to join the BJP.
With Ramavati Rawat’s induction into the BJP, Sarojini Nagar now stands entirely saffron, marking the culmination of the opposition’s last bastion. Notably, Banthra had remained a significant stronghold for the opposition until Ramavati Rawat, contesting under the BSP symbol, secured a resounding victory in the local body elections last year.
During the Holi Milan ceremony held at Him Golden City in Banthra, Ranjit Kumar Rawat, representing his mother Ramavati Rawat, along with five councillors, three village heads, and numerous supporters, formally embraced the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Kaushal Kishore and Sarojini nagar MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh. Although Ramavati Rawat couldn’t attend due to health reasons, Dr Singh welcomed Ranjit Rawat and his mother into the BJP fold by adorning them with saffron scarves.
Ranjit Rawat’s decision to join the BJP was influenced by Dr Rajeshwar Singh’s impartial developmental initiatives in Banthra and the unwavering commitment of the local MLA, coupled with the BJP’s policies. Notably, Dr Rajeshwar Singh’s efforts resulted in the approval of development schemes worth Rs 2 crore under the Banthra Aspirational Nagar Panchayat Scheme, Rs 4 crore under the Adarsh Nagar Panchayat Scheme, and additional schemes worth Rs 30 crore.
The inclusion of prominent figures like Chairman Ramawati, Rajneet Rawat, councillors Ashish Gautam, Hukum Singh, Atul Shukla, Brajesh Dhiman, Saurabh Gupta, as well as village heads Vipin Rawat, Dina Rawat, Raja Rawat, and Ramadhar Rawat into the BJP fold is expected to bolster the party’s presence in Mohanlalganj and Sarojini nagar.
The event witnessed the presence of senior BJP leaders including Shankari Singh, Rama Shekar Tripathi, Raj Kumar Singh Chauhan, Arun Kumar Gupta, Arvind Kumar Chauhan, Sanjay Singh, Gangaram Bharti, Mahendra Singh Chauhan, Brij Bhan, Guru Prasad Lodhi, Rajesh Chaurasia, Ashok Kumar, Seema Rawat, Pintu Singh, Pappu Singh, Pushpendra, Manoj Pandey, along with a multitude of BJP leaders and local residents.
