Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reaffirmed the state’s commitment to reaching a $1 trillion economy by implementing a structured action plan, as the state continues to make strides toward this ambitious target. Speaking during the budget session of the assembly, Adityanath outlined the government’s strategies and emphasized the role of the Maha Kumbh in boosting Uttar Pradesh’s economic growth.
Adityanath stated that the Maha Kumbh Mela would play a significant role in helping Uttar Pradesh achieve its economic goals, estimating that the event will contribute over Rs 3 lakh crore to the state’s economy. The Chief Minister highlighted the global attention the Kumbh Mela attracts, further linking it to the state’s growing economic potential.
In response to a query from Samajwadi Party MLA Ragini Sonkar, Adityanath elaborated, “The potential of Uttar Pradesh, which the world is witnessing today, can be linked to the Maha Kumbh. This event alone will boost the state’s economy by more than Rs 3 lakh crore.”
Adityanath also touched on India’s broader economic progress, noting that the country is now the fifth-largest economy globally. He confidently predicted that India would become a $5 trillion economy by 2027, emphasizing the nation’s position as the world’s fastest-growing major economy.

He further addressed Sonkar’s remarks, sarcastically suggesting, “I can understand your pain because when your leaders claim that India can never become a developed country, you have to support them.” The Chief Minister stressed that despite some political resistance, India’s development is undeniable, and all Indians should take pride in the country’s achievements.
Responding to Sonkar’s question about the government’s specific action plan and timeline for reaching the $1 trillion target, Adityanath revealed that the government had set up an organized strategy to meet the milestone. The plan includes 10 key sectors, each being monitored by senior government officers, such as additional chief secretaries and principal secretaries, ensuring effective execution.
“We have designed a systematic action plan to meet the $1 trillion economy target set in 2022,” Adityanath said. “Our focus is on these 10 sectors, with dedicated officers overseeing progress to ensure we meet our goals.”
Sonkar had also asked which departments were contributing the most to Uttar Pradesh’s economic target. While the Chief Minister did not provide specifics in his speech, his emphasis on the comprehensive action plan suggests a multi-sector approach, with various departments playing integral roles in driving economic growth.
As Uttar Pradesh continues to position itself as an economic powerhouse within India, the government remains committed to meeting the $1 trillion goal, with strategic initiatives and key events like the Maha Kumbh driving significant growth in the coming years.
