UP Chief Secretary, Karan Adani Discuss Investment Push To Boost State’s Economy

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh met Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Group, on Wednesday. They discussed how to help the state become a more inclusive and dynamic economy.

Singh, a 1988-batch IAS officer, shared the update on social media platform X. He wrote, “Today, I met Mr. Karan Adani, Director, Adani Group. On this occasion, there was an elaborate discussion on the potential role of Adani Group in moving Uttar Pradesh towards an inclusive and dynamic economy.”

The Adani Group has previously committed to investing more in the state. The group believes Uttar Pradesh holds major investment opportunities.

Adani Group Plans ₹70,000 Crore Investment in UP

In 2022, at the Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit, the group announced plans to invest ₹70,000 crore. The investment aims to create at least 30,000 jobs in the state.

Last month, the UP Cabinet approved a power purchase agreement between Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and Adani Power Limited (APL). The deal secures 1,600 MW of power supply for 25 years.

APL won the bid in a competitive process held in October 2024. A new thermal power plant will be set up in the state to supply the power.

Adani Group Wins Energy Storage Project in Sonbhadra

In February 2025, Adani Saur Urja (LA) Limited secured a major contract from UPPCL. The firm, a subsidiary of Adani Green Energy, will set up an energy storage project.

The project, Panaura PSP, will be located in Sonbhadra district. It will be completed within six years.

The annual fixed cost for the project is ₹76,53,226 per MW, excluding taxes. The agreement will stay in effect for 40 years from the project’s commercial operation date.

The state government and Adani Group continue to work together on infrastructure, power, and job creation.
