Stock Market Today: Sensex Rises 331 Points, Nifty Ends At 24,176

Indian equity markets regained ground on Friday as buying interest in key sectors helped the benchmark indices end their two-day losing run.

Strong performances by IT, pharmaceutical and metal companies improved overall market sentiment.

The Sensex climbed 330.92 points, or 0.43 per cent, during the session to finish at 77,264.51. The Nifty50 advanced 84.80 points, or 0.35 per cent, and closed at 24,175.65.

Technology shares played a major role in the day’s recovery, with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tech Mahindra and Infosys featuring among the leading gainers on the Nifty.

The IT sector received strong buying support, helping the Nifty IT index emerge as the best-performing sectoral index during the session.

Pharmaceutical and metal stocks contributed to the positive market trend.

The wider market recorded limited gains by the end of trading. The Nifty MidCap index increased 0.05 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index moved up 0.20 per cent.

Market analysts said investors returned to selected sectors after two consecutive sessions of declines. This renewed buying support helped the benchmark indices recover.

Experts attributed much of the strength in IT shares to positive sentiment following Nvidia’s strong earnings and optimistic outlook.

One market analyst said robust gains in technology stocks helped Indian equities finish in positive territory. The analyst added that Nvidia’s performance strengthened expectations of continued investment in artificial intelligence.

The analyst added that companies involved in enterprise AI deployment and workflow integration could benefit from sustained demand linked to the technology. These factors could influence economic growth, inflation and corporate profitability in the coming sessions.

Analysts believe the next few trading sessions will determine whether Friday’s gains develop into a sustained recovery. They said the gains could remain a temporary rebound led primarily by technology stocks.

Investors are expected to track domestic market trends alongside global developments before taking further positions.
