Stock Market Today: Sensex Falls 250 Points, Nifty Ends Below 23,900

The Sensex declined 249.70 points, or 0.33 per cent, to settle at 76,478.67, while the Nifty fell 80.50 points, or 0.34 per cent, to close at 23,865.75 on Tuesday.

Weakness in information technology stocks weighed on investor sentiment as investors remained cautious ahead of the scheduled US-Iran talks in Doha later in the day.

According to market experts, the 24,000 zone has emerged as the immediate resistance for the Nifty.

A sustained move above this level would be necessary to revive bullish momentum and could open the path toward the 24,100–24,200 range.

On the downside, 23,800 remains the immediate support, and holding above this level will be important to prevent further weakness and maintain the broader recovery trend.

Among Sensex constituents, Maruti Suzuki, Titan, Bajaj Finance, Eternal and Adani Ports were the top gainers.

Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and Hindustan Unilever, meanwhile, emerged as the biggest laggards.

Despite the decline in headline indices, broader markets ended on a stronger note.

The Nifty Mid Cap index gained 0.37 per cent, while the Nifty Small Cap index advanced 1.02 per cent.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty IT, Nifty Media and Nifty PSU Bank were the top losers due to selling pressure in technology and banking stocks.

In contrast, Nifty Realty, Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Chemical closed higher, supported by sector-specific buying.

Market participants also remained on the sidelines as they awaited the outcome of the US-Iran talks in Doha, with global geopolitical developments continuing to shape market sentiment.
