Benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 opened on a positive note, marking their third consecutive session of gains.
The Sensex rose 296 points to 76,367, while the Nifty climbed around 50 points to 23,632 in early trade, reflecting improved investor sentiment.
The broader market also witnessed an upward trend, with small-cap stocks leading the rally. The Nifty Smallcap indices posted gains of up to 0.51 per cent, while midcap indices advanced moderately.
Wider indices, including Nifty 100, Nifty 200 and Nifty 500, also edged higher, indicating broad-based participation across segments.
Sectorally, IT and auto stocks emerged as top performers. The Nifty IT index gained around 1 per cent, rebounding after recent losses, while the Nifty Auto index rose nearly 0.87 per cent.
Metals and chemical stocks, however, remained under pressure, with the Nifty Metal index declining 0.75 per cent and the Nifty Chemicals index slipping marginally.
Among key stocks, major names such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel and Cipla were among the early laggards.
Market experts said the Nifty 50 is near a key resistance zone of 23,700–23,750, with a potential rise towards 23,850 if it breaks higher, while support lies around 23,400.
Analysts added that markets are showing recovery, backed by value buying after the recent correction. Volatility may persist due to rising crude oil prices and ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
Asian markets displayed mixed trends, with Nikkei 225 trading higher, while other indices remained largely flat or moderately positive.
Experts suggest that the market may remain event-driven in the near term, with stability in crude oil prices and easing geopolitical tensions likely to support further recovery.
