Indian benchmark indices ended in the green on Thursday after touching fresh record highs earlier in the day.
The Sensex closed at 85,720.38, rising 110.87 points or 0.13 per cent. The Nifty settled at 26,215.55, up 10.25 points or 0.04 per cent.
During the session, the Sensex hit an all-time high of 86,055.86.
The Nifty also reached a new record at 26,310.45. Analysts said 26,300 remains a key resistance level for the Nifty.
They noted that a decisive close above this zone could trigger a breakout toward the 26,350-26,450 range.
On the downside, analysts continued to identify the 26,150–26,000 zone as a strong support base. They said consistent Put writing and positional buying have strengthened this area. Analysts added that the Sensex is forming a higher-high, higher-low pattern on the daily chart.
Analysts placed immediate resistance for the index near 86,000-86,500 and support in the 85,500-85,200 region.
They said Nifty will retain its bullish structure as long as it sustains above its key support zone. They added that market sentiment remains constructive.
In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 index edged up 0.08 per cent.
The Nifty Smallcap 100 index, however, declined 0.53 per cent. Among Sensex-listed firms, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finserv, and HCL Tech topped the gainers’ list.
Eternal, Maruti Suzuki, Ultratech Cement, SBI, and Tata Steel also recorded notable gains. Sector-wise, Nifty Bank, Financial Services, Media, IT, FMCG, and Chemicals ended higher.
Auto, Energy, Metal, Oil & Gas, Realty, and Consumer Durables saw selling pressure and closed in the red. Analysts said traders are now focused on key triggers expected on Friday.
They highlighted the upcoming GDP numbers, the US-India deal, and the RBI policy meeting as major factors that could guide near-term market direction.
They added that these events will play a crucial role in shaping the equity movement in the coming sessions.
