Rs 3.25 Lakh Crore: Government Seeks Parliament Nod

The authorities on Friday sought Parliamentary approval for extra spending of round Rs 4.4 lakh crore, involving a fresh cash outgo of just a little below Rs 3.25 lakh crore, largely on account of fertilizer, meals and gasoline subsidies.

The rural improvement ministry is among the many businesses that can see their allocation enhance by greater than Rs 45,000 crore, with a further Rs 16,400 crore is proposed to be earmarked for offering extra funds for MGNREGA and one other Rs 28,775 crore below different heads.

Also, approval has been sought for meeting expenditure of the Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry for Rs 80,348.25 crore to be used mainly for distribution of free food grains under the National Food Security Act and for additional allocation under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) (Rs 60,110.32 crore).
