Reliance Retail Acquires Priyanka Chopra’s Haircare Brand Anomaly

Reliance Retail Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has acquired the haircare brand Anomaly, founded by global actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The deal includes full ownership of the brand’s trademarks, intellectual property, and digital assets, marking a strategic move to expand its fast-growing beauty and personal care portfolio.

Launched in 2021, Anomaly has positioned itself as a clean, vegan, and performance-driven haircare brand available at accessible price points. It already has a presence across major international markets, making it a valuable addition to Reliance Retail’s portfolio of new-age consumer brands.

The acquisition aligns with Reliance Retail’s broader strategy to scale high-growth brands within the beauty sector.

By integrating Anomaly into its ecosystem, the company aims to leverage its extensive offline retail network and digital platforms such as Tira to expand the brand’s reach.

Isha Ambani highlighted that Anomaly’s global appeal, clean formulation philosophy, and affordability make it a strong fit for the company’s evolving beauty portfolio. The focus will be on accelerating growth in India while maintaining and strengthening its international footprint.

Reliance Retail plans to prioritise India as a key market by developing products tailored to local hair and scalp needs. This will involve innovation, localisation, and deeper consumer insights.

At the same time, the brand will continue expanding across regions such as North America, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas will remain actively involved with Anomaly as Creative Director, overseeing product development, innovation, and brand direction.

The partnership is expected to help the brand reach a wider audience while maintaining its core values.

The acquisition reinforces Reliance Retail’s strategy of combining global brand appeal with its retail scale and omnichannel capabilities to build future-ready consumer businesses.
