Mumbai Airport Sees 6.3% Growth In Passenger Traffic In 2024; Sets New Milestones

Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) reported a 6.3% year-on-year growth in passenger traffic for 2024, reaching 5.48 crore, up from 5.16 crore in 2023.

The airport also recorded 3,46,617 air traffic movements (ATMs), which represents a 3.2% increase from the previous year. This growth highlights the rising demand for both domestic and international travel.

December marked a particularly strong month for the airport, with its highest-ever single-day passenger movement recorded on December 21. On that day, the airport saw around 170,000 passengers, with 116,982 domestic and 52,800 international travelers. December also emerged as the busiest month of the year, with a 3.4% increase in passenger arrivals and departures, totaling 50.5 lakh.

Two specific days in February 2024 — February 3 and February 10 — also saw the airport set a new record for single-day air traffic movements, handling 962 ATMs on each of these days.

These achievements underscore Mumbai International Airport’s continued growth and its strategic importance as one of the busiest and most efficient airports in the world.
