Mother Dairy Raises Milk Prices Across All Variants Due To Input Cost Surge

In response to mounting input costs, Mother Dairy announced a price hike across all milk variants effective from Monday, impacting consumers in Delhi-NCR and other markets.

The surge amounts to Rs 2 per litre across the board, marking an adjustment to cope with rising operational expenses.

The revised rates now stand at Rs 54 per litre for token milk, up from Rs 52, while toned milk sees an increase to Rs 56 per litre from the previous Rs 54.

Similarly, the cost of cow milk rises to Rs 58 per litre from Rs 56, while buffalo milk now commands Rs 72 per litre compared to the previous Rs 70.

Double-toned milk follows suit, seeing its price climb to Rs 50 per litre from Rs 48.

Mother Dairy attributed the necessity of this price adjustment to sustained pressures on procurement costs over recent months, compounded by adverse weather conditions such as the ongoing heatwave, which has hampered milk production.

In a statement, the company emphasized its commitment to balancing the interests of both milk producers and consumers.

Despite grappling with escalating procurement expenses, Mother Dairy had endeavored to maintain stable retail prices.

However, the current economic realities, including input cost escalations and production challenges exacerbated by the heatwave, have necessitated this strategic move.

This decision by Mother Dairy follows a similar move by Amul earlier in the week, wherein they also increased milk prices by Rs 2 per litre, reflecting the broader industry’s need to address cost escalations in a challenging economic environment.
