Benchmark equity indices rose in early trade on Wednesday, owing to the continuous bullish trend in equities.
The 30-share BSE Sensex soared 273.65 points to 74,957.35 in early trade. The NSE Nifty climbed 83.85 points to 22,726.60.
Vedanta, Interglobe Aviation, United Spirits, BPCL, Zomato, IOCL, and GAIL (India) were the top gainers.
Among the laggards were Divi’s Labs, Info Edge (India), Cipla Shree Cement, HDFC Life Insurance, and Godrej Consumer.
In Asian markets, Tokyo, South Korea, and Shanghai were trading down, while Hong Kong was trading higher.
On Tuesday, Wall Street finished mainly up.
Brent crude gained 0.04 percent to USD 89.46 a barrel.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold securities worth Rs 593.20 crore on Tuesday.
