Jio 5G Network Reaches 170 Million Users; Data Consumption Soars

Jio has connected over 170 million customers to its 5G network, solidifying its position as the world’s largest standalone 5G operator outside China. This achievement marks a significant milestone in Jio’s journey, as more users are embracing the 5G experience, contributing to a substantial increase in data consumption.

As the number of 5G customers on Jio continues to grow, the per capita data consumption has also surged. By the end of December, Jio’s per capita data consumption reached an impressive 32.3 GB, the highest in the industry. Overall, total data consumption on the Jio network for the year reached 4651 crore GB, marking a 22.2% increase compared to the previous year. Jio users now account for 40% of the total data consumption on the network.

Jio is leveraging the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to build a connected future, fostering technological innovation that will drive transformation for years to come. Akash Ambani projected that by the end of 2024, Jio’s user base would exceed 482.1 million, with 3.3 million net subscribers added in the latest quarter alone.

Strong Financial Performance Amid Growth

Jio’s financial performance in the third quarter has also been exceptional. Jio Platforms Limited reported a 26.0% year-on-year increase in net profit, reaching Rs 6,861 crore. The company’s average revenue per user (ARPU) rose to Rs 203.3, driven by a tariff hike and a better customer mix. With these developments, Jio further continues to set new benchmarks in the telecom industry, promising sustained growth and innovation in the years ahead.
