International Women’s Day: Gautam Adani Credits Women In Family As ‘Architects Of My Conscience’

On Sunday, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani said the women in his family have significantly influenced his views on life, responsibility and contributing to nation-building.

Sharing a message on LinkedIn to mark International Women’s Day, Adani reflected on the role played by the women around him in shaping his beliefs and outlook. He described them as the ‘architects of my conscience’.

Adani said his earliest lessons about values began in childhood through his mother. She introduced him to stories from Indian epics, which he said carried moral lessons that left a lasting impact on him.

According to Adani, these stories helped him understand ideas such as courage, sacrifice, faith and duty, lessons he says were deeper than what he learned from textbooks.

Recalling an important moment from his youth, Adani spoke about leaving home at the age of 16 to travel to Mumbai with the determination to build his own future.

He noted that while he stepped into an uncertain path at the time, he often reflects on the courage his mother must have shown in allowing him to take that decision.

Adani also acknowledged the role of his wife, Priti Adani, whom he called ‘the keeper of my conscience’. He said that although she is a trained dentist, she chose to dedicate her efforts to building the Adani Foundation.

Adani noted that the foundation today runs programmes in education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods and community development, reaching more than 10 million people across 22 states in India.

Next Generation in Adani Family

Speaking about the next generation of his family, Adani said his daughters-in-law, Paridhi Adani and Diva Adani, have brought new perspectives into the household.

He described Paridhi as a thoughtful lawyer who engages with a wide range of issues, while Diva, a designer, combines creativity with empathy, especially in efforts that support people with disabilities.

Adani also mentioned his three granddaughters, saying their presence often brings a sense of joy and reminds him that every generation carries a responsibility towards the next.
