India’s Tea Exports Rise 2.85% To 257.88 Million Kg In FY 2024-25

Tea exports from India rose by 2.85% in the 2024-25 financial year compared to the previous fiscal, according to official Tea Board data. The export volume increased from 250.73 million kilograms to 257.88 million kilograms.

Exports from North India registered strong growth. The region exported 161.20 million kilograms during 2024-25, marking an 8.15% increase from 149.05 million kilograms in 2023-24.

Exports from South India saw a decline of 4.92%. The region’s exports dropped from 101.68 million kilograms in 2023-24 to 96.68 million kilograms in 2024-25.

The value of tea exports per kilogram increased to ₹290.97, a 12.65% rise over ₹258.30 recorded in the previous fiscal. Officials noted that the increase in export value reflects stronger demand for Indian teas in global markets.

During the calendar year January to December 2024, tea exports reached 256.17 million kilograms, showing a 10.57% increase compared to January to December 2023.

Exports from North India stood at 155.49 million kilograms, while South India contributed 100.68 million kilograms. This represents a growth of 10.28% for North India and 11.02% for South India during the year.

The data highlights India’s expanding global footprint in tea exports despite regional variations in output.

The steady rise in both volume and value of exports underscores India’s resilience and growing competitiveness in the global tea market. With continued demand and strategic focus on quality and branding, Indian tea is well-positioned to strengthen its presence worldwide.
