Indian Markets Close Week On A Positive Note Over Global Optimism

Indian equity markets ended the week on a bullish note, breaking a four-day losing streak as investors responded positively to international cues.

The Nifty 50 surged 0.18 per cent for the week and rose 0.58 per cent on Friday to close at 25,966, while the Sensex gained 447.55 points, or 0.53 per cent, ending at 84,929.

The uptick followed softer-than-expected US inflation data, which raised hopes of a more accommodative stance from the Federal Reserve.

Despite the strong finish, equities traded cautiously during the week. Persistent foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows, rupee depreciation, and heightened global uncertainties weighed on sentiment.

Early sessions were further pressured by rising Japanese bond yields and expectations of Bank of Japan tightening, fuelling risk-off sentiment across emerging markets.

Bargain hunting and easing crude oil prices helped large-cap stocks stage a late-week recovery, offsetting most of the earlier losses, analysts noted.

Sectoral performance was largely positive, with Nifty Realty, Auto, Healthcare, and Chemicals leading the gains.

Broader indices also posted modest improvements, with the Nifty Midcap100 up 0.04 per cent and Nifty Smallcap100 remaining largely flat for the week, although it climbed 1.34 per cent on Friday.

Key Technical Levels to Watch

Market experts identified 26,200–26,300 as strong resistance levels for Nifty, while 25,700–25,800 will act as key support zones in the near term.

Analysts expect Indian markets to maintain a cautiously positive bias in the coming weeks, remaining highly sensitive to global developments.

Key drivers include policy signals from major central banks regarding the 2026 trajectory.

“While overall sentiment remains constructive, investors should anticipate short-term volatility amid uncertainties surrounding trade deal timelines and the stability of the Indian rupee,” market observers said.

The week’s performance underscores the interplay of global macroeconomic trends and domestic factors, with cautious optimism prevailing among market participants.
