The Haryana government has begun work on an 800-megawatt (MW) ultra-supercritical expansion unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant (DCRTPP) in Yamunanagar.
Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said on Friday that the state government has begun building an 800 MW power unit at Yamunanagar thermal plant, after receiving consent from the union government.
The state government has set a 52-month completion date for the project, with commercial operations planned to begin within 48 months, and a full takeover after six months.
The Chief Secretary stated during a comprehensive project status review meeting that the contracting process for this endeavor will begin in late October.
According to an official statement, the power plant’s development is projected to be completed within four years, with Haryana benefiting from an additional 800 MW of electricity by 2028.
In terms of the coal linkage component of this endeavor, Kaushal stated that the yearly coal requirement is 37.1 lakh metric tonnes, with a calorific value of 3,600 kcal/kg, and an 85 percent Plant Load Factor (PLF).
“In a recent development, the Standing Linkage Committee of the Ministry of Coal recommended bridge linkage for the project during last month’s meeting”, the statement continued.
The irrigation department has confirmed the availability of 22 cusecs of water for the project, according to Kaushal. He stated that several procedural aspects, including environmental clearance, are moving along well.
“Haryana has reached a significant milestone with the completion of its 800 MW power plant. It is prepared to meet the state’s growing need for electricity, supporting job creation and adding to the region’s overall economic growth”, Kaushal added.
