‘Accelerating The Global Energy Transition’: Gautam Adani After Meeting Michael Bloomberg

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Wednesday highlighted the importance of accelerating the global energy transition, developing resilient urban infrastructure and advancing artificial intelligence (AI) following his meeting with Bloomberg co-founder Michael Bloomberg in New Delhi.

Taking to social media platform X, Gautam Adani described their discussion at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum as engaging, highlighting clean energy, the future of AI and sustainable growth. He further praised Bloomberg’s vision and commitment to climate action.

In his remarks, Gautam Adani emphasised the need to combine physical infrastructure development with reliable data, transparent governance and inclusive growth. He said nation-building required investments in ports, power transmission networks, green hydrogen facilities, computing clusters and transport systems, supported by accountable institutions.

The Adani Group Chairman noted that emerging economies such as India needed to expand power generation, industrial capacity and digital access to improve economic security. At the same time, developed financial markets often prioritise faster decarbonisation and regulatory alignment.

Despite these differing priorities, Gautam Adani said affordable and reliable clean energy remained essential. He cautioned that the energy transition could falter if it raised costs for households and small businesses or restricted industrial growth.

Gautam Adani called for collaboration between governments, investors and industry to lower the cost of green energy and address growing climate risks.

The Adani Group Chairman highlighted Bloomberg’s three decades of engagement with India and his philanthropic contributions to areas such as AI, advanced manufacturing and green infrastructure. Their discussion covered Dharavi’s redevelopment, with Gautam Adani stressing the importance of protecting livelihoods while providing climate-resilient housing, sanitation and reliable electricity.

Gautam Adani concluded that successful nation-building depended on patient capital, effective execution, transparent governance and capable local leadership.
