Digital Life Certificates For Pensioners Surpass 1 Crore Milestone

Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday announced that the issuance of Digital Life Certificates (DLC), introduced to benefit pensioners and senior citizens, has surpassed the one crore mark in the ongoing DLC 3.0 campaign.

Singh, who oversees the Department of Personnel and Pensions, emphasized the importance of this achievement.

He stated, stating, “This landmark will go a long way in bringing ease of living for elder citizens and live up to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as expressed by him in the recent episode of Mann Ki Baat last Sunday.”

In the 116th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi shared the benefits of the DLC system, noting that it has made the process much more convenient for elderly pensioners.

The Prime Minister asserted, “Now, by enabling the Digital Life Certificate, things have become very simple; the elderly do not have to go to the bank. The elderly do not face any problems on account of technology. Making the elderly tech savvy. Today, with such efforts, the number of people receiving Digital Life certificates has crossed the 80 lakh mark. Among these, more than 2 lakhs are such elderly people whose age has crossed even 80.”

The Union Minister further explained, “The vision of Prime Minister Modi for Digital Empowerment of Pensioners is being achieved through the successful implementation of DLC Campaign 3.0. All key stakeholders – Pension disbursing banks, Department of Pensions and Pensioners Welfare, Controller General of Defence Accounts, Ministry of Railways, Department of Telecom, Department of Posts, IPPB, UIDAI and Pensioners Welfare Associations are working with a whole of government approach to realise the vision of Digital Empowerment of Pensioners.”

Singh launched the Digital Life Certificate Campaign 3.0 for pensioners’ digital empowerment at the National Media Centre in Delhi.

DLC Campaign 3.0

The DLC 3.0 campaign, running nationwide from November 1 to 30, has seen strong participation with 1,984 camps held across 800 cities and towns. Nearly 1.8 lakh postmen are assisting in the deployment.

The DLC Campaign 3.0 has however seen a 202-fold increase in submissions through Face Authentication.

As part of the campaign, organizers held five mega camps – three in Delhi and one each in Bengaluru and Hyderabad bringing together all stakeholders.

At the camps, pensioners and their welfare associations expressed that the introduction of Digital Life Certificates was a significant step in easing life for pensioners, especially the elderly, disabled, and those in hospitals.

“This achievement is a testament to the Government of India’s unwavering commitment to harnessing digital tools for the benefit of every pensioner,” Singh concluded.
