BRICS Summit 2026: Cyril Ramaphosa Meets Gautam Adani In New Delhi To Boost Trade Ties

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa met Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani in New Delhi on Friday as both sides explored ways to deepen India-South Africa trade and investment ties.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit and formed part of South Africa’s business engagements in India.

The South African government said President Ramaphosa’s discussions with Adani supported efforts to expand commercial and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Ramaphosa briefed the South African delegation ahead of the summit.

South Africa plans to use the BRICS platform to advance its diplomatic and economic priorities.

The country aims to expand intra-BRICS trade and investment, promote industrialisation and value addition, and attract investment into African infrastructure. These efforts align with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

During his India visit, Ramaphosa received support from International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola, Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, Deputy Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Zuko Godlimpi and senior officials.

Ramaphosa addressed the BRICS Business Forum. His remarks covered trade and supply chains, agriculture, women-led development, the digital economy and innovation.

On Saturday, the South African President will join a closed BRICS leaders’ session titled ‘Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism’.

The session will focus on reforming the United Nations system, international financial architecture and the multilateral trading system.

Ramaphosa will address the India-South Africa Business Leadership Roundtable to strengthen bilateral trade and investment. He will hold talks with other world leaders and engage with business leaders and industry representatives.
