Ahead Of Budget Announcement Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Hiked By Rs 49 From February 1

Prices of commercial LPG cylinders have been increased by Rs 49, with effect from February 1, raising operating costs for businesses that depend on these cylinders for daily use. The hike was announced by oil marketing companies as part of their routine monthly price revision.

The increase applies to the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder, widely used by hotels, restaurants and small food outlets across the country. Domestic LPG cylinders of 14.2 kg, however, remain unaffected by the latest revision.

In the national capital, Delhi, the retail price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has risen to Rs 1,740.50. According to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), the revised price in Kolkata stands at Rs 1,844.50, while Mumbai now sees the cylinder priced at Rs 1,692.

Chennai continues to be the costliest among the four metros, with commercial LPG prices increasing to Rs 1,899.50 following the latest hike.

Impact On Businesses And Households

Overall, commercial LPG prices in all cities have seen a cumulative increase of Rs 160 since the beginning of the year, just 32 days ago. Oil companies confirmed that there has been no revision in the price of cooking gas for home consumers from February 1, providing some relief to households.

Officials said LPG prices are reviewed at the beginning of every month and adjusted based on global fuel prices, exchange rates and transportation costs. The latest increase is expected to impact the food and hospitality sector, where commercial LPG is an essential fuel for cooking and day-to-day operations. Higher fuel costs may eventually translate into increased food prices.

Before the recent hikes, commercial LPG prices had remained relatively moderate. Since April 2025, rates of commercial cylinders have been reduced six times, resulting in a cumulative cut of Rs 223 per cylinder, including marginal rollbacks in November and December.
