Adani Skills, Kachchh University Open Green Energy Centre In Bhuj

Adani Skills & Education (ASE) and Kachchh University have inaugurated a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Green Energy at the university campus in Bhuj, Gujarat, with a focus on preparing local youth for careers in the renewable energy sector.

The facility will train more than 10,000 students annually through specialised programmes covering solar photovoltaic (PV), wind energy, hybrid renewable systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and digital and industrial automation.

The centre was inaugurated by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and will also promote applied research and entrepreneurship in green energy.

Adani’s green energy operations have generated more than 21,000 direct and indirect jobs in Kutch over the past two years, increasing the need for skilled workers across renewable energy infrastructure.

Adani Group Director Karan Adani said green energy investment must be accompanied by investment in young people as India’s clean-energy expansion creates new jobs and infrastructure opportunities.

ASE CEO Robin Bhowmik said the initiative aims to bridge the gap between the renewable energy industry’s growing requirements and the availability of specialised workers by bringing practical industry exposure into university education.

Focus on Emerging Technologies

The CoE will adopt a Learn, Practise, Experience, Certify and Career model, combining classroom instruction with simulation and hands-on training.

Its curriculum will cover solar PV, wind systems, renewable integration, BESS, microgrids and digital technologies.

Students will also gain exposure to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Internet of Things (IoT)-based energy data systems and smart-grid technologies.

India is targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030, creating demand for specialised technical skills.

The initiative comes as Kutch expands its renewable energy infrastructure. At Khavda, the Adani Group is developing a 30 GW renewable energy park across 538 sq km.

The CoE will strengthen the local talent pool and give students opportunities to pursue renewable energy careers, research and entrepreneurship closer to home.
