Adani Skill Development Centre In Sevapuri Empowers Rural Women In Varanasi

Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC) in Sevapuri, Varanasi, is actively empowering rural women, giving shape to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India.

The Adani Foundation operates the centre to make women self-reliant by providing focused training in tailoring, data processing, market analysis, and communication skills.

Established with a long-term commitment to women’s empowerment, the centre helps rural women achieve economic independence.

Many are now being trained to use sewing machines, while young girls receive coaching for competitive examinations.

The centre aligns with the Adani Foundation’s philosophy of ‘Growth with Goodness’, bringing real transformation to marginalised communities without discrimination of caste, creed, or colour.

Handcrafted eco-friendly products

An outstanding example of this initiative is the local production of Gangatiri and Nari Shakti-branded incense sticks.

Over 300 women craft eco-friendly incense sticks from cow dung and natural bamboo through Kashi Prerna Saksham Producer Company Ltd, promoting sustainability and protecting cows.

The centre works closely with self-help groups (SHGs), a key driver of social and economic change in rural India.

With over 11.8 million SHGs operating across the country, nearly 140 million rural families have benefited from these platforms.

The National Rural Livelihoods Mission also supports these groups by providing resources to foster self-reliance, generate village-level employment, and reduce migration.

The Adani Foundation, in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation, runs 30 centres across 19 cities.

Through more than 55 skill-based courses, the programme has impacted over 90,000 individuals in remote rural areas, offering them pathways to a brighter future.

Meanwhile, the Sevapuri centre is a model for how strategic, community-focused initiatives can foster women-led development.

This effort further reflects the Adani Foundation’s commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth.

By investing in women’s empowerment and rural entrepreneurship, the foundation is ensuring a resilient, self-reliant future for the communities it serves, turning villages like Sevapuri into beacons of progress and opportunity.
