Adani Power Wins 800 MW Project In Madhya Pradesh; To Invest Rs 10,500 Crore

Adani Power Ltd on Saturday announced that it has secured a Letter of Award (LoA) from MP Power Management Company Ltd (MPPMCL) for supplying electricity from a new 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Anuppur district.

The company, India’s largest private thermal power producer, said the project will support Madhya Pradesh in meeting its fast-rising power needs driven by industrial growth and urbanisation.

The project, however, earmarks an investment of Rs 10,500 crore for the plant and its supporting infrastructure.

SB Khyalia, Chief Executive Officer of Adani Power, stated, “As India’s power demand continues to rise, driven by rapid economic growth, especially the base load power, it is imperative to invest in robust energy infrastructure to meet the nation’s growing needs. Adani Power remains committed to securing India’s energy future in a sustainable way by expanding capacity and embracing advanced technologies.”

He further added, “The Anuppur plant will play a pivotal role in ensuring reliable, affordable, and competitively priced power for households and businesses, strengthening India’s and Madhya Pradesh’s energy security and fueling continued progress in the state.”

Tariff and Project Model

Adani Power was among the lowest bidders in the competitive process, quoting a final tariff of Rs 5.838 per kWh. The plant will follow the ‘Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO)’ model and commission within 54 months of the appointed date.

Madhya Pradesh secured the unit’s coal linkage under the central government’s ‘SHAKTI Policy’.

According to the company, construction will generate 6,000–7,000 jobs, with around 1,000 permanent roles once the project is operational.

This marks the company’s fourth major order in the past year.

In September 2024, Adani Power and Adani Green Energy received an LoI for a 6,600 MW composite supply (5,000 MW solar and 1,600 MW thermal) to Maharashtra.

In May 2025, it was awarded a 1,600 MW greenfield project in Uttar Pradesh, followed by a 2,400 MW project in Bihar in August.
